How to choose a roller in actual compaction work?
General compaction consists of initial compaction, recompaction and final compaction. If the initial compaction can meet the density requirements, there is no need for re-compaction, but the practice are still keeping these three steps.
- Initial compaction is usually done with steel wheel rollers, but there will be pushover phenomenon, that is, the mixture on the front side of the drum is pressurized to move laterally, and cracks may occur after compaction. In practice, there are also used with pneumatic tire rollers for the initial pressure, but because of the high temperature during the initial pressure, the mixture is easy to adhere to the tires, and the traces left behind are not easy to remove, so pneumatic tire rollers for the re-pressing of the opportunity to be more.
- There are more chances for re-compaction to be operated by pneumatic tire rollers. One: pneumatic tire compaction is a kind of kneading compaction, compaction effect is good, and can remove the small cracks produced by the steel wheel compaction.
